We are an Eco-congregation - official

Good news! The Eco-congregation assessors have recommended us for the award.

We had our assessment on Tuesday (8th June). The church was represented by eight people so we had a good cross-section who could talk about the different aspects of the project: spiritual, practical and community.

After showing our assessors, Martin Hodson and Richard Riggs, around the church, we had two hours of fairly probing questioning. It was definitely more than a formality, although as Martin pointed out afterwards, after all the work people put into the award it would be a let-down if the assessors just turned up, said ‘well done’ and left for home.

It was good, anyway, to be made to think about what we have done, to get an outsider’s perspective and to put it into a wider context.

At the end of the evening they summarised their findings and gave particular commendation to our redevelopment project, our green services and (particularly gratifying for me) our team work.

We are now planning a service to celebrate getting the award.
