Looking ahead

We have sent off our Eco-congregation application and had an encouraging reply. Now we're waiting for a visit from an assessor before we find out whether we have gained the award.

Meanwhile, there's lots happening at Didcot Methodist Church. The mood at our AGM last week was optimistic as we looked forward to the opening of our new extension very soon. We're planning the opening celebrations for the weekend of 22nd-23rd May, when we'll be inviting the town to come and see what we've been doing and what we have to offer. The main attraction will be the much improved facilities for community use, but I hope it will be a good showcase for our Eco-congregation project as well. A few weeks after that, we're planning a Vision Day to look at what happens next. I'm looking forward to it.

It was great putting together our Eco-congregation application: it really showed how much had happened in the past year or two, how far we have come, and how many people have been involved - whether they realised it or not! There was much that we wrote down that was not a ‘green team’ project, and that’s how it should be.
